How not to Get Hit by Cars

Wearing a helmet does not prevent you from being hit by a car, jeep, bus or even a motorcycle. A lot of cyclist have died due to vehicle collisions. Here are some tips in trying to avoid being a road kill.

1. Get a headlight - Having a headlight make drivers aware of your presence
2. Buy a really loud horn - Making your presence felt can really save your life.
3. Slow down - Biking defensively can really help you anticipate other motorists' moves and you can have a lot of time to decide what to do next.
4. Focus on the road - Some drivers and pedestrians tend to ignore bikes since they look futher down the road looking for cars. Also, give the pedestrian the right of way.
5. Look at the car's front wheels - This can give you information on where the car will go. Especially the cars in a traffic jam, where drivers will try to switch lanes totally unaware of your presence.
6. Don't stay close to the curb - When a motorist is looking down the road, they tend to look in the middle of the lane for other cars. The farther left you are the most likely the driver can see you.
7. Avoid busy streets - One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they start biking is to take the exact same routes they used when they were driving. It's usually better to take the streets with fewer and slower cars.
8. Pray - Some divine intervention can be a lot of help.

Hope my tips will help you enjoy your bike ride more and try to avoid awful accidents in the future.
